Board of Directors

Tom Klaameyer
President/Region VI Director
AEA Office

I first came to Alaska in 1989, courtesy of the United States Air Force.  After completing my enlistment, I chose to stay in Alaska and took advantage of my GI Bill to earn my teaching degree at UAA.  I taught Social Studies in the district (at Bartlett and Eagle River High Schools) for over twenty years, and am now privileged to serve you as the AEA President.

Juli Campbell
Bartlett High School

I have been in the district since 2006 as a science and CTE teacher at both Bartlett High School and Eagle River High School.  I am new to the AEA board as of October, fulfilling the term of the previous treasurer.  Prior to being a teacher, I worked as a bookkeeper for both an internet provider and a construction company while obtaining my bachelor and master degrees.  Teaching has been my greatest, most rewarding career, and I look forward to many more years serving the students of Anchorage as both a teacher and an AEA member.

Ivy Bowler
Region VI Director
Begich Middle School

I am honored to be serving my second term on the board as Region VI Director. I have been working in the Anchorage School District in some capacity for 9 years, beginning as a substitute teacher, and working as a full-time math teacher for the last six years. As a lifelong Alaskan, I am dedicated to improving the quality of education for all Alaskan students and working to improve my craft on a daily basis in the classroom.

I graduated in 2009 from UAA with a BA in English and a minor in Art, and went on to receive my Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Alaska Southeast. My teaching career began with Cook Inlet Tribal Council as part of a STEM grant at Central Middle School. Currently, I teach 8th grade math at Begich Middle School where I also serve as math Department Chair. My past work experiences include commercial fishing, barista, and waitstaff/management at several restaurants in Homer, AK, my beautiful hometown. In my non-teaching time, I love running marathons, skiing, and enjoying the outdoors with friends and family.
