The Anchorage Education Association is the union that represents over 3,200 Anchorage School District certificated employees including classroom teachers, special education professionals, school counselors, nurses, and therapists. Together, we are united in our mission to provide ASD students with the best possible education that will lead to rich and fulfilling lives.

This school year we’re focused on three big issues:

  1. Inspiring Students: The past year and a half have been tough for students, families, educators, and our communities at large. AEA is committed to keeping our schools open in a safe and responsible way so that students are inspired to learn. AEA members want nothing more than to be there for their students and help them reach their goals.

  2. Connecting Educators: AEA is committed to having the best possible educator in every classroom. We are constantly providing high quality training for our members so they have the latest and greatest instruction techniques, support systems, and access to technology to engage their students.

  3. Building Community:  AEA members live and work in every community within the ASD. From Chugiak, to Anchorage, and all the way down to Girdwood, we understand that our children are our future. We care deeply about our public schools, the students we serve, and our profession. We want to make the Anchorage School District a place that attracts the best and brightest educators from across the country so our students are taught by high quality teachers and receive the best support possible.

So, when you see the #AEAbigpurplebus, let it serve as a reminder that AEA members are in our public schools, teaching and inspiring students every single day. We encourage everyone to snap a picture of the #AEAbigpurplebus, tag @AnchorageEA on Facebook, and thank an educator.
