Stephanie Price
I am new to Alaska and am delighted that I was hired in November to work with the Anchorage Education Association. I have spent the past two years as Organizing Director with the Missouri NEA. There I worked with local affiliates across the state in identifying targeted organizing opportunities and acting as lead organizer for those efforts. I also worked with locals to build their capacity and develop strategies for improving membership and achieving local goals.
Prior to my work with the Missouri NEA, I taught for 10 years in Missouri public schools, where I was an active local leader and president. In 2007 Missouri NEA honored me with its Soar with the Eagles Award for excellence in leadership. I am proud of my Missouri local and the fact that my local was consistently recognized for outstanding membership growth and recruitment. My local also became the first in the state to a reach a master agreement following a Missouri Supreme Court decision which overturned 60 years of case law prohibiting collective bargaining for public employees.
I earned a B.A. in French and Elementary Education from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. I then began my teaching career in the Wentzville R-IV School District. I work out of the Anchorage Regional Office and am assigned primarily to the Anchorage Education Association.
