Enthusiasm, creativity, engagement!
We are AEA members that volunteer in our community, promote the cause of public education, and elevate the character of the education profession. We invite all members to join us to share your innovative and exciting ideas!
The Communications Committee is an all-volunteer, non-elected group of AEA members. We brainstorm and implement projects that improve the communication between our members; increase member engagement and build camaraderie; and sustain a strong, positive public image.
The following events are activites we sponsor and organize:
- Volunteer for KAKM/KSKA fund drives
- Write articles for the e-Advocate or our website
- Create an AEA-sponsored award competition for students
- Plan Read Across America read-ins
- Celebrate American Education Week
- Design public image ads
- Write up clever radio spots
- Host a booth at KidsDay2008!
- Elect Champions of Children winners
- Design podcasts, weblogs
- Sponsor Food Drives
- Pick up trash at Spring Clean Up!
- Organize an AEA running team, bowling team, etc.
- Dream up fun events for members
We are always open to new and exciting ways to:
- Participate in fun, charitable events in our community.
- Implement effective ways to share ideas and information within our membership.
- Let the public know we care about improving education.
We also have two volunteer subcommittees:
- The Internal Communication Committee focuses on our goal of effective ways to share ideas and information within our membership.
- The *new* Social Committee sponsors activities that build camaraderie in our membership.

We normally meet the first Saturday morning of each month. Come with an empty stomach and a head full of ideas!
