Hopefully your summer vacation was relaxing, rejuvenating, and you were able to enjoy some well-deserved sunshine. As we begin a new year with all the challenges and unknowns it will bring us, please remember that your Association leaders and staff are here to be of service to you.
New this year for AEA members:
- 2% salary increase

Health insurance co-pay will be $395.00 per month, but will only be taken out of six checks, starting in January 2012, which makes for a total of $2370.00 out of pocket expenses for this school year (the total cost of each member’s health insurance for this school year is $20,340.00).
If you have a question or concern about your job or workplace, please give AEA a call (274-0536) or email me at AEA@asdk12.org, and I will do my best to try and help.
I would encourage all of you to become involved in your association. This year we will be electing (in January) a new AEA President who will take over NEXT school year. Nominations for the office of president will be open through December 6th. WE are always searching for new ideas from members to serve on any of our committees. There is no minimum time commitment. If you can spare some time to give your association, I would certainly appreciate it if you’d consider serving on one or more of the following committees:

If you are a new member of AEA, please note that there will be a new-member dinner September, 29th. During this event, new members will have an opportunity to socialize with each other as well as meet AEA leasers. There will be an opportunity for new members to ask questions and receive crucial information. There will also be some fabulous door prices! You will receive a personal invitation and I hope you will attend.
Together WE will be able to accomplish great things!

Welcome to our new website! We’re very excited about it and have lots of ideas about making it be something people will use, because we intend to make it USEFUL. Of course that will probably mean I’m going to have to update my blog more regularly than every eight or nine months, but I’ll try…
Some important upcoming events include:
- Elementary SPED staffing – April 21
- Mid-Level and High School SPED staffing – April 22
- Rep Council (the last one of the year) – May 3
- Mid-Level and High School staffing – May 4
- Elementary staffing – May 5
- End of school – YES it will end! – May 20
- And I saw (and successfully "dealt with") my first mosquito of the season last night – spring is officially here!
