Tentative Agreement

The Anchorage School District and the Anchorage Education Association have reached a tentative agreement that extends through June 30, 2013. The current contract expires on June 30th.

Voting will take place electronically on May 6, NOT at the all-member meeting on May 3. Please remember that you may vote before or after school or during your duty-free lunch. ASD equipment may be used during those times. You will need your NEA ID and this site: www.anchorageea.org

Paper ballots will be available for those people who wish from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on May 6 at the AEA office, 4100 Spenard Road.

Bargaining Update: April 2nd, 2010

Mediation on March 29th and 30th between ASD and AEA did not result in an agreement. The district was unwilling to move to a place where the team felt the membership could ratify an agreement. Given the achievements of Juneau and Fairbanks, AEA is not willing to settle for this offer and insurance contributions that won’t cover increasing costs.

AEA has sent further detailed messages to members home e-mails, and AEA will be visiting your building over the next few weeks to provide more specifics and answer questions.

Bargaining Update: February 19th, 2010

Dear AEA Member,

The AEA Bargaining Team met with the District on February 18th. Although some progress was made, the teams decided it was best to enlist the help of a federal mediator to facilitate the bargaining process. We are in the process of scheduling mediation.

Bargaining Update: January 29, 2010

The AEA Bargaining Team bargained with ASD on January 26 and 27. During these sessions, the teams exchanged proposals on salary, added duty, and insurance. Continued progress was made. The team will meet again with ASD on February 18 and 19 to continue on salary, added duty, and insurance.
